By Way of Introduction…

For the past fifteen(ish) years I’ve been making music – initially with a band called Alphastates, and more recently with Cat Dowling.

In the past few years I have started composing music for film and video, when the opportunity arises. I work primarily with the very wonderful Areaman Films, probably best known so far for making “The Liberties’ films. I’ve put up a film page so you can see some examples of the work we’ve done together…

I studied sound engineering and music technology in the Sound Training Centre in Temple Bar Music Centre. I am currently the house engineer in CONTACT Studio, which is based in RUA RED Arts Centre which is based in Tallaght. The studio was set up by South Dublin County’s Arts Office to provide an affordable space for local musicians, artists, youth and community groups etc. to work with recorded sound. It’s my job to run the studio, to help to develop musical activity and opportunities in the county, to support local artists and work with people on projects where I can make myself useful in any way possible. It’s a varied job, and a highly enjoyable one.
